Florida Heritage Book Festival, 24-25 September 2010

Wednesday 24 February 2010

Now in its third year, St. Augustine’s Florida Heritage Book Festival is looking forward to even more one-of-a-kind literary events that only our nation’s first city can offer. Best-sellers, writers’ workshops, authors in schools, literary luncheons and Literary Legends are just some of the favorites of this preeminent event.

With venues like Flagler College and Casa Monica, and support from local businesses, national authors and Secretary of State Kurt Browning, event attendance has been so astounding that after its first year, the Florida Heritage Book Festival was awarded a grant from the St. Johns County Visitors and Convention Bureau.

In addition to the Festival’s mission to promote Florida authors and literary works about Florida, we aspire to promote literacy throughout St. Johns County. This has been confirmed, with over $20,000 of Festival proceeds having been donated to the St. Johns County Friends of the Libraries and the Newspaper in Education program of The St. Augustine Record. Applause from featured authors such as Michael Connelly, Les Standiford, and Nancy Yi Fan has created so much buzz on a national level that big-name authors are already lining up for the next event.

Festival directors Kathy Dvornick and Karen Harvey invite you to celebrate our state’s rich and diverse literary culture and play a part in the 2010 event. Get to know the authors and books that bring Florida to life, while promoting literacy in your community. You, too, will make a difference.
